Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The contribution is original and unpublished, and is not being evaluated for publication by another journal; otherwise, it should be justified in "Editor's comments".
  • The submission file is in Microsoft Word, OpenOffice, or RTF format.
  • URLs for references were provided when possible.
  • The author(s) have the minimum required degree for the journal, as stated in the Publication Guidelines.
  • The text follows the style standards and bibliographic requirements described in the Author Guidelines, on the About the Journal page.
  • The file is anonymized, not containing name, surname, resume, email, or any other data that directly or indirectly identifies the author(s).
  • All authors of the work have and will provide ORCID Id (https://orcid.org/) and a brief resumé.
  • The author(s) authorize(s) the use of their name(s) for divulgation purposes of the work, if approved, on the social media of the DTIBR Center.

Author Guidelines

  1. Eligibility Requirements
  • At least one of the authors must hold a Master's Degree in Law.
  • The maximum number of co-authors is 3.
  1. Anti-Plagiarism Policy
  • The Brazilian Journal of Law, Technology and Innovation takes plagiarism very seriously. All submitted articles will be thoroughly checked for originality using plagiarism detection software.
  • Any instances of plagiarism will result in immediate rejection of the article and may result in ban for future submissions.
  1. Article Formatting Requirements
  • All articles must be submitted in Microsoft Word format.
  • The article must be written in English, with clear and concise language.
  • The length of the article should be of a maximum 30,000 words (including footnotes), with a preference for 20,000 words or fewer.
  • The font should be Times New Roman, size 12, with 1.5 line spacing.
  • The article should be structured with headings and subheadings as appropriate.
  1. Referencing Requirements
  • The Brazilian Journal of Law, Technology and Innovation uses the The Bluebook: A Uniform System of Citation (21st ed.), although the Brazilian Association of Technical Standards (ABNT) referencing style might also be accepted.
  • All references must be properly cited in the text and listed at the end of the article in the “References” section.
  • In-text citations should include the full citation information, and not only the author’s last name, publication date, and page number(s).
  • Footnote citations should include the full citation information for the source, including author, title, publication information, and page numbers.
  1. Submission Process
  • All articles must be submitted through the journal’s online submission system.
  • A cover letter introducing the author(s) and explaining the significance of the article is not required, but any relevante information should be provided to the editor during the submission process.
  • Upon receipt of the article, the editor will perform a desk review and make a decision on whether to proceed to ad hoc double-blind peer review.
  • If the article is accepted by the evaluators, the author(s) will be notified and asked to make any necessary revisions before final publication.
  1. Final Publication
  • Upon final approval of the article, the author(s) consent with the publication and its licensing under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International License.
  • The Brazilian Journal of Law, Technology and Innovation reserves the right to make minor editorial changes to the article as necessary for clarity and consistency.

By submitting an article to the Brazilian Journal of Law, Technology and Innovation, the author(s) agree to these guidelines and certify that the article is original and has not been published elsewhere.

Articles

Texts should preferably be written in English. Alternatively, the submission of texts written in Portuguese is accepted, with the joint submission of the translation being highly recommended.

All submissions should be in Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) format. Other text formats (such as .pdf) are not accepted.

The text and citations of submissions should generally conform to The Bluebook: A Uniform System of Citation (21st ed.) or the Brazilian Association of Technical Standards (ABNT).

All submissions should also include a brief abstract and a resume or CV.

Cover letters are not required but are permitted. 

BJLTI has a word limit of 30,000 words (including footnotes), and a preference for 20,000 words or fewer. We particularly value brevity, so we look favorably on pieces that are significantly below the 30,000-word ceiling.

BJLTI does not share personal information with third-party organizations for any commercial or marketing purposes. Personal information may be shared with our partners or service providers who assist us in providing our services, such as managing our website or processing submissions. These partners and service providers are required to maintain the confidentiality and security of the information they receive.

Data Security:

BJLTI takes appropriate measures to protect the security of the personal information we collect. We use a combination of technical, administrative, and physical measures to safeguard the information against unauthorized access, use, or disclosure.

Access to Information:

Stakeholders have the right to access, modify, or delete their personal information held by BJLTI. Requests for access or modification should be made in writing to the BJLTI editor.

Changes to Privacy Policy:

BJLTI reserves the right to modify this Privacy Policy at any time. If changes are made, the updated policy will be posted on our website.
